Music and football just go together: the delicate art of the pre-match playlist, derogatory chants set to ABBA tunes, gimmicky pre-World Cup singles - the list goes on. This connection, coupled with the importance of merch to artists’ income, prompted us to extend our kit design expertise to creating bespoke pieces for some of our favorite artists, from Mt Joy to Yard Act. Plus, it's just quite cool isn't it?
Are you a musician/label/manager who’d like to design a unique merch piece? Reach out to sales@icarusfc.com to hear more about our artist partnership program!
After watching English post-punk band Yard Act at the world's largest football shirt convention (Glastonbury), we made a beeline for their management, asking if they'd like to make a custom jersey.
So, using their latest album cover (and Leeds United fandom) as inspiration, we designed and produced 350 shirts for their big homecoming show in Millennium Square, Leeds this past August.
A chance encounter with Philly’s own Mt Joy saw them ask us to design a merch jersey for their rapidly-approaching fall tour. We were more than happy to oblige, quickly turning around a shirt inspired by the lighting of their live shows ahead of their concert at Madison Square Garden. It's important that any Philly native storms into New York City prepared.
Back in 2021, we partnered with Percival Menswear to make 'heavy metal football' more than just a turn of phrase about tactics.
To do so, Percival enlisted the help of London rock ’n’ roll jewellers to the stars The Great Frog to release this slick short-sleeved black football shirt and a long-sleeved white football shirt, both sponsored by uncompromising metal icons Motörhead.
SOFY isn’t just one of British indie-pop’s brightest talents: she’s also a formidable collector of football shirts. So, when she asked us to make a merch jersey to celebrate her Chaos & Commotion tour, we were honored to join this fabled collection.
With SOFY's help, we designed a football shirt for the 'Rat Kingdom' - her (literal) pet name for her fans - and then hand-delivered the lot during her four-night residency at The Lafayette in London.
Working with bands is always a highlight for us, but when a group like GWCCI comes along, heads turn in the Icarus office. Not only do they perform their songs exclusively in Welsh, but they do it all totally anonymously, making them one of the country’s most exciting (and mysterious) acts.
To accompany the release of their debut album 'GAFR' we partnered with the duo on a retro Wales inspired shirt complete with band references and, for the first time ever, our Icarus retro fabric.
