A massive thank you to everyone who came to the 5th annual Icarus Cup, from the 80 competing teams (and their travelling fan clubs) to our dedicated team of volunteers and hall of fame of local food and drink vendors. As ever, thank you to CASA Soccer for being such top partners once again.

Ironically enough, we didn’t kick off with football, but with mini golf at our Libertee Grounds opening party, where multiple rounds (of golf, drinks, etc) were enjoyed and teams picked up their jerseys for the first time. On Saturday, we scoffed at storm warnings and enjoyed some of our best Icarus Cup weather yet as we crowned winners across 10 divisions. The coolers and middle school heaters spilling out of teams’ tents really put the ‘festival’ in our festival of football, too.

With six hot matches potentially under their belt, teams needed stirring by the end of the day, and that came in the form of a few espresso ‘Rye Keanes’ at our Percy afterparty. A rollercoaster weekend as ever, and already in our calendar for this summer.

We’ve got hot competition for the summer’s biggest tournament, but we’ll definitely give it a shot.
