No one’s more passionate about their city than Philadelphians. But we love going even more local, bringing together bar staff and locals to prove our passion for the breweries, dive bars and taprooms that say ‘home’ more than any Liberty Bell ever could.
So, on November 21st, 'The Philly Local' will be returning to Ukie Club!
The Philly Local is a casual 6v6 soccer tournament where every team represents an area of Philly - and more importantly - a beloved bar from that neighborhood. As always, custom kits all round.
Last year it was an absolute blast. 6 bars chasing bragging rights. Mud and leaves snuffing out counter attacks. Diego doing his best Rene Higuita impression. Black Sheep treating a dislocated knee with tequila shots. Schuylkill Wednesday workshopping chants on the bench. Marcus wielding the Eagles spatula. And, to cap it all off, a last-second backheel from Southwark to bring the trophy to Fountain Porter.
This year's Philly Local will be a bigger 8-team tournament, featuring many of the well-loved names from last year (Ukie, Black Sheep, Local 44, Wiss, Intl Bar) along with a few new cult heroes into the mix: Ray's Happy Birthday Bar, The Black Taxi, and Lion Sports Bar.
We expect this to fill up quickly so get your order in before the bell. Entry is $40 per person, with a custom pub shirt for everyone who takes part.
