A world class tactician and leader of men, Nelson is renowned for his attacking philosophy which divides pundits and delights supporters. While rival clubs favour a cautious, possession-based approach, Nelson remains committed to his trademark tactic: splitting the opposition line in two and attacking both halves simultaneously.

Critics have argued that the high risk style leaves gaps at the back, but the doubters were silenced in last season’s crucial title decider against their rivals from the continent. With HMS Victory two men down and the game slipping away, Nelson ordered a tifo raised above the stand, reading “Every Man Must Do His Duty”. 

The Brits dug deep and threw themselves forward one last time, breaking their opponents line and allowing their captain, Thomas Hardy, to fire in a winner into the net.

“When that ball went in, I thought - I can die a happy man,” Nelson wrote in his column the next day.
